Habitat et Jardin offers a range of sauna cabins to suit every taste and budget. The sauna is ideal for relieving tiredness, banishing stress and toxins, calming the nerves and easing muscle tension. The benefits of the sauna for the heart have been the subject of numerous studies demonstrating its positive effects on blood circulation and the skin. Enjoy it on your own or with others.
Check your tolerance to heat
The benefits of the sauna in terms of stimulating blood circulation, eliminating toxins and relaxing muscles are well known, but certain precautions must be taken to ensure you use your sauna safely. It is therefore advisable to check with your doctor whether your body can tolerate the intense, dry heat of a sauna. Certain risks may arise because the dilation of blood vessels caused by the heat leads to a rapid increase in heart rate, which can cause complications for people with cardiovascular disease, asthma or respiratory conditions, and may result in a feeling of tightness in the chest.
Choosing your type of sauna
We offer two types of sauna: the traditional sauna and the infrared sauna. The infrared sauna is the perfect alternative for people who cannot tolerate excessively high temperatures, as the ambient temperature in an infrared sauna is around 40 degrees. The principle behind the infrared sauna is that it heats the very core of the muscle tissue. This heating process offers the same benefits as a traditional sauna, such as the elimination of toxins. Furthermore, in an infrared sauna, sweat consists of 80 per cent water and 20 per cent fat, whereas in a traditional sauna, sweat consists of 97 per cent water. You will therefore feel an immediate sense of well-being and notice that your skin is able to breathe more easily. Traditional saunas are small wooden cabins with an ambient temperature of 70 to 100 degrees, designed to eliminate toxins and purify the body through the dry heat of the sauna. Our Finnish saunas are high-quality products that will ensure you enjoy maximum relaxation. The sauna tradition has been part of Finnish culture for thousands of years, and we make all this expertise available to you. Our saunas come in different sizes and can therefore be enjoyed alone or with others for a more sociable experience.
Recommended use
Above all, the sauna is a most pleasant way to relax, which is why it is important to maintain good hygiene whilst using it to safeguard everyone’s wellbeing, as heat encourages the growth of germs. To maximise everyone’s safety, it is important to observe recommended exposure times within the sauna and a certain number of sessions. These guidelines vary according to individual needs. It is often recommended to have three sessions during a single sauna visit. The first session should be short and intense, lasting around 8 to 12 minutes. The second session in the sauna should last around 15 minutes and be less intense. The final session can vary from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on your preferences and needs. Between each sauna session, it is important to spend at least 15 minutes in the fresh air and to take a bath or shower in water as cold as possible in order to cool the body and skin, thereby maximising the benefits of the sauna and flushing toxins from the skin. After the final sauna session, it is advisable to rest for about twenty minutes and take a short nap to allow all the body’s systems to relax completely.

Result
After a session in your own sauna at home, you’ll experience a very pleasant sense of well-being, lightness and cleanliness, despite the high temperatures of 80 to 90 degrees. Afterwards, a shower or a bath in particularly cold water will feel incredibly refreshing.
Why is a sauna session good for you?
From a health perspective: it will help you calm your nerves, relieve stress, banish tiredness, stimulate blood circulation, flush out toxins, deeply cleanse your skin and also relax your muscles to relieve muscle tension. From a hygiene perspective: thanks to the intense heat inside the sauna, many parasites such as lice, fleas and other crabs will be completely eliminated.
Precautions
Certain precautions before using a sauna should not be taken lightly. From a health perspective, it is not recommended for people with poor blood circulation, heart conditions or asthma to expose themselves to the heat of a sauna for too long. It is also strongly advised against consuming alcohol, drugs or medication before or whilst using a sauna.
